FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 14, 2011 ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS (Newark, NJ) – Lenny & John's Subs of Bloomfield, New Jersey, was honored by the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders in recognition of its 40th Anniversary of doing business on Bloomfield Avenue. The ceremony was held during the Board's Wednesday, September 14th, meeting at the Hall of Records when Bobby Antinozzi, one of the shop's proprietors, was presented with the Board's commendation.
Lenny & John's Subs was established in 1971 by two good friends, Leonard Antinozzi, Sr., and John Maselli, when the price for a whole sub was only $1. Although the prices may have changed over the succeeding 40 years, the business has remained true to its original motto, “Keep everything fresh and keep everything clean”. Lenny & John's Subs also remains true to its original 1971 basic menu; the tuna sub (#18) is still an L&J favorite, and its original recipe remaining a secret today. Over the years, the business has expanded to offer extensive catering, and it has established itself
as a valued fixture and contributor to the economic vitality of the Bloomfield Avenue business district. Lenny & John's Subs is currently operated by Leonard Antinozzi, Jr., and Robert Antinozzi, the sons of the business' founder, who hosted a 40th Anniversary Party at the shop, located at 161 Bloomfield Avenue, on Saturday, June 25, 2011. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * |
