ESSEX COUNTY FREEHOLDERS
HONOR THE MILLBURN H.S. GIRLS SOCCER TEAM
2010 GROUP III STATE CHAMPIONS

(Newark, NJ) – The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the 2010 Group III State Champion Millburn High School Girls Soccer Team during its Wednesday, January 20th, meeting held at the Hall of Records.

The team captured the Group III State Championship by defeating Hopewell Valley High School, 4-2, on November 19, 2010, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, New Jersey.  En route to the championship game, the team defeated Mendham High School (3-0), Scotch Plains High School (1-0), West Morris High School (1-0) and Ramapo High School (1-0).

During the memorable 17-6 championship season, the 2010 Millburn High School Girls Soccer Team ran off 7 consecutive victories to conclude the season and capture the program’s first sectional championship since 1990, and its first-ever state championship.

The team was comprised of the following players: Seniors Tori Graessle, Nikki Willlens, Tanya Sood, Lydia Vollavanh, Brianna Siracuse, Ivanka Misilo, Danielle Spinelli, Katie Beimfohr and Emily Beimfohr; Juniors Taylor Perretti, Mackenzie Haggerty, Malia Reynolds and Emilia Meo; Sophomores Stephanie Rosenberg, Isabella Gordon, Catherine Westlake, Ashley Lynn, Jennifer Olensky, Lizzie Landau and Gabby Lee; and Freshmen Courtney Brosnan, Tara Sood, Zoe Taitel and Cameron Harris.  The team was coached by Head Coach Andy Sones and Assistant Coach Dean Slaughter.
